Ubicazione: L'Hotel La Locanda è situato nel centro storico della città di Volterra, nei pressi dell'area archeologica dell'Anfiteatro Romano (I secolo a.C.) e a pochi metri dalla medievale Porta Fiorentina.

La Storia: L'hotel è stato ricavato da un antico Monastero di Suore. Proprietario del palazzo nella seconda metà del settecento fu Anton Filippo Giachi, storico e cultore di studi etruschi, ricordato in una lapide presso l'ingresso dell'hotel. Durante la sua permanenza volle che sulla facciata venissero apposti i vasi cinerari etruschi, i coperchi e le casse di urne funerarie dell'età ellenistica con raffigurazioni di animali fantastici e di scene di viaggio agli inferi, frutto delle campagne di scavo da lui stesso condotte.

Le Camere: Le camere sono dotate di ogni comfort e dispongono di cassetta di sicurezza, minibar, aria condizionata, tv satellitare e collegamento ad Internet.
Per i Clienti più esigenti abbiamo inoltre a disposizione camere che hanno bagni con docce idromassaggio e sauna oppure vasche idromassaggio doppie e singole.

La Suite: La nostra suite è arredata anche con mobili di antiquariato, il bagno dispone di una doccia idromassaggio con sauna nella quale potrete rilassarvi con l'aroma terapia.

History: Our Hotel is new and has been converted from an ancient Monastery of Nuns.
The former owner of this Palace, in the second half of 1700’s was Anton Filippo Giacchi, historically and culturally famous for his study of Etruscan history .In remembrance of him, you can find also today a memorial plaque over the entrance of the Hotel.
In those days he fixed onto the front of the building some urns, boxes for urns and the tops of urns from the Etruscan time, with representations of fantastic animals and scenes of the trip to the Inferno. All this he found here when he excavated the site.
