Il Palazzo Medievale e la Sua Storia: "In Montepulciano, fin dal 1080, viveva una nobile e doviziosa famiglia detta de' Pucci, che in seguito di tempo dette alla patria uomini illustri nelle scienze, nelle armi, nella magistratura e nella gerarchia ecclesiastica. Essa aveva il suo palazzo in via Tolosa (o meglio Talosa) nella parrocchia di S. Maria, antica pieve, poi distrutta per dar luogo, sul finire del '500, alla imponente cattedrale. Restano anc'oggi la via Talosa e il bel Palazzo Pucci"
Tutto questo si legge in un antica guida di Montepulciano.
Il palazzo che, dopo il Concilio di Trento (1545-1563), fu destinato a Seminario Vescovile, ha avuto diversi proprietari tra i quali la famosa famiglia Bellarmini da cui ebbe origine San Roberto Bellarmini (anche detto Bellarmino), cardinale gesuita, oppositore acerrimo di Galileo Galilei, e la famiglia Ricci.
Dopo secoli di decadimento e di abbandono da parte di proprietari poco attenti, nel 1949 fu acquistato dal Prof. Attilio Caroti che, restaurandolo parzialmente, ne fece la sede della prestigiosa Scuola Italiana del Mosaico. Negli anni ottanta parte del palazzo, interamente ristrutturato, è stata destinata ad albergo denominato Meublè IL RICCIO, che Giorgio e Ivana Caroti gestiscono con amore e cura. Ogni angolo del palazzo ricorda la sua storia, in particolare il pregevole cortile d'ingresso, pavimentato a mattoni, con archi a tutto sesto su due lati sostenuti da colonne in travertino di ordine tuscanico e con un loggiato soprastante di ordine ionico.
Il passato di queste mura è custodito intatto per il piacere di chi sa apprezzarne il fascino e la magia in un ambiente sereno e tranquillo.
Un piccolo Meublè con tutti i comforts di un grande albergo: Situato nella più antica via di Montepulciano, a pochi passi da Piazza Grande che è il cuore del Centro Storico, con la Cattedrale, il Municipio ed i palazzi Rinascimentali più belli, il Meublè IL RICCIO offre ai suoi ospiti camere elegantemente arredate, con servizi privati, TV color, mini bar, telefono, cassaforte, aria condizionata e internet point, oltre ad un panorama fantastico sulla Val di Chiana e sui laghi di Montepulciano, di Chiusi e Trasimeno.
Una bella scala trecentesca conduce al Meublè che tra i servizi resi alla clientela annovera anche quello di una terrazza solarium che non ha eguali perchè si trova nel punto più alto del colle poliziano.
Il Meublè IL RICCIO è aperto tutto l'anno e, data la limitata disponibilità, è consigliabile prenotare con ampio anticipo. Sono ammessi animali di piccola taglia.
Da oltre 10 anni il Meublè è raccomandato dalla "Guide du Routard".

IL RICCIO MEUBLE'
The Medioeval Building and its History: In Montepulciano, from 1080, there lived a noble and wealthy family known as de'Pucci, who in the years to come would provide their country with many men who became illustrious in the field of science, the army, the magistrature and in the church hierarchy. Their palazzo was in via Tolosa (or rather Talosa) in the parish of St.Maria, an old church later destroyed to make way for the late 16th Century cathedral. Today both via Talosa and the Pucci palazzo survive".

The palazzo, which after the Council of Trent (1545 - 1563) was destined to become an episcopal seminary, has had various owners including the famous Bellarmini family. San Roberto Bellarmini (also called Bellarmino), was a Jesuit Cardinal and a bitter opponent of Galileo Galilei. Another of the famous owners was the Ricci family. After years of decay and neglect by a series of owners, in 1949 the palazzo was bought by Professor Attilo Caroti, who, after partially restoring it made it into the base for the prestigious Italian School of Mosaics. In the 1980s, part of the palazzo, having been entirely restructured, became the hotel Meublè IL RICCIO, managed with love and attention by Giorgio and Ivana Caroti.
Every corner of the palazzo pays testimony to its history, especially the impressive courtyard at the entrance with its tiled floor and its pointed arches on two sides held up by travertine columns in Tuscan style and an independent- standing upper gallery in Ionic style. The history of these walls has remained intact for those who would like to appreciate their fascination and their magic in a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere.
A small residence with all the comforts of a big hotel:Situated in the oldest street of Montepulciano, very close to the heart of the old town with its cathedral, the Town Hall and the most beautiful renaissance palazzi, the Meublé IL RICCIO offers its guests elegantly furnished rooms with en-suite bathrooms, colour TV, mini-bar, telephone, safe box, air conditioning and internet point, as well as a wonderful view over the Val di Chiana and its lakes (Montepulciano, Chiusi and Trasimeno).
A beautiful 14th Century staircase leads guests to a terrace solarium, (another service offered to guests) which is unique due to its being situated at the highest point of Montepulciano's hill.
The Meublé IL RICCIO is open all year but, given the limited availability of rooms, it is advisable to book well in advance. Small animals are welcome.
