Ubicazione: L'Hotel La Minerva segue discendendo verso il mare con i suoi terrazzi fioriti una vallata molto riposante e tranquilla distante pochi passi dalla mondana Via Camerelle, vero centro dello shopping Caprese e passaggio obbligato per le splendide passeggiate di Tragara e delle spiagge dei Faraglioni.

Recentemente rinnovato, l'hotel ha un'architettura elegante e tipicamente caprese per gli ampi pavimenti in maiolica ed i numerosi decori in ceramica, le volte, gli archi e gli ampi terrazzi immersi nel verde.

La vista del mare e del verde di cui si gode già attraverso le ampie vetrate del salone di ingresso è ammirabile da quasi tutte le camere e dalla terrazza solarium.


La Storia: La storia de La Minerva incomincia quando in una Capri che agli inizi del '900 guadagnava grazie alle sue bellezze l'attenzione del mondo intero, nacque l'idea di adibire 2 delle camere di una tipica casa caprese ad uso dei turisti e dei viaggiatori dell'epoca. Luigi Esposito e Laura Cannavale, fondatori dell'hotel, avevano ricevuto come dono di nozze la casa dalle loro famiglie. Oltre alla casa Luigi aveva ereditato dal padre, abilissimo floricoltore, la passione e la cura per il verde ed i fiori che ancora adornano i nostri terrazzi mentre Laura aveva ricevuto dalla sua famiglia, albergatori dalla prima metà dell'800, la passione per l'ospitalità. La casa di Laura e Luigi rappresenta il punto di partenza de La Minerva. Aveva un grande giardino a terrazze e due ampie cisterne per l'irrigazione dei campi alimentate dalla raccolta di acqua piovana. Si narra che la costruzione di quella casa in quel luogo fu decisa da Antonio, padre di Luigi, in una fredda giornata invernale, oltre che per la bellezza e tranquillità dei luoghi, anche per la loro posizione felicemente al riparo dai freddi venti da nord. La piccola casa ben presto acquisì notorietà e successo per la grande ospitalità di Laura e Luigi e negli anni riuscì a diventare l'hotel attuale, quello che avevano sempre sognato, ampliandosi a più riprese verso l'alto e verso il basso in armonia con il paesaggio. Oggi Antonio, sua moglie Giovanna, e loro figlio Luigi con la stessa passione dei suoi fondatori proseguono nella gestione dell'hotel, ben consapevoli della grande responsabilità verso gli ospiti che da sempre tornano a La Minerva e quelli nuovi che vi arriveranno.


Le Camere: Le sole 19 camere dell'hotel, tutte rinnovate di recente, sono distribuite su ben 5 piani digradanti verso il mare.

The island’s magnificent greenery and seascape observed through the entry hall windows can be admired from almost all hotel rooms and the solarium terrace.


History: The history of La Minerva began in the early 20th century, when the world was turning its attention to the beauty of Capri, when Luigi Esposito and Laura Cannavale, decided to prepare and allocate two rooms of their typical Capri home (inherited from their families as a wedding gift) to accommodating tourists and travellers. The house was not the only thing that Luigi received from his family; he in fact inherited from his father, a skilled floriculturist, a love for nature, as can be seen by the greenery and flowers that still adorn the hotel terraces. On the other hand, Laura, whose family were hotel keepers since the mid 19th century, received the love and appreciation for hospitality Laura and Luigi’s home was the starting point for La Minerva. It was set in a large terraced garden and featured two cisterns that collected rain water used to irrigate the grounds. It is said that Luigi’s father Antonio made the decision to build the house there on a chilly winter morning, not only because of the sheer beauty and calm of the site, but also because of its position, naturally sheltered from the cold northern winds. The small house soon gained renown thanks to the hospitality offered by Laura and Luigi, who over the years turned the establishment into the hotel they had dreamed of ­ and that we see today ­ through successive upward and downward extensions in complete harmony with the scenery. Today Antonio, his wife Giovanna and their son Luigi demonstrate the same enthusiastic dedication to the hotel, fully aware of their responsibility towards all guests at La Minerva, whether those who have been coming for years, or the others yet to come.


Rooms: The hotel's 19 rooms only, all recently renovated, are distributed on 5 floors gently sloping toward the sea.
