Panorama: La più bella terrazza del mondo si
trova a Roma al Grand Hotel de la Minerve. Non è
un’esagerazione: è l’unica infatti a dominare la cupola del
Pantheon in tutti i suoi particolari, da una notevole
altezza ma a distanza così ravvicinata. E non solo.
A destra e a sinistra si profilano nettamente contro il
cielo di Roma la cupola di S. Ivo costruita nel 1642 dal
Borromini e l’altana del Quirinale e tanti monumenti di
Roma. Affacciarsi da quella terrazza è come leggere un
libro di storia dell’architettura europea. E se guardiamo
giù nella piazza ci viene incontro l’opera più curiosa del
grande Bernini: l’elefantino che regge un obelisco.
Arte: A
rendere unico il Grand Hotel de la Minerve contribuisce
anche una collezione di statue. La già citata Minerva nella
hall, le altre nel salone Olimpo al piano terra. Le opere
sono dello scultore Rinaldo Rinaldi, della seconda metà
dell’Ottocento, artista allievo del Canova e ammirato dalla
Regina Margherita di Savoia.
L’hotel è stato completamente rinnovato per meglio venire
incontro alle sofisticate e moderne esigenze della
clientela. Ma anche oggi il Grand Hotel de la Minerve non
dà l’impressione di un luogo impersonale ma ha conservato
nelle sue linee nobili ed eleganti il calore di una casa
aristocratica, accogliente e confortevole.

European architecture, with plenty of famous landmarks to
marvel at.
Art: To
complement its unique features, the Grand Hotel de la
Minerve houses a collection of statues: the Minerva located
in the hall and the others in the Olimpo room on the ground
floor. The statues, wich date from the second half of the
19th century, are by Rinaldo Rinaldi, an apprentice of
Canova who was much admired by Queen Margaret of Savoy.
The hotel underwent major restructuring. But even in our
contemporary fast-paced era, the Grand Hotel de la Minerve
never gives the impression of being impersonal. It has
retained, in its noble and elegant lines, the warmth of a
welcoming, comfortable aristocratic home.
