all'ampliamento della struttura, valorizzata da originali

Solo cinque minuti a piedi dall'albergo per raggiungere la
nostra "Trattoria La Carabaccia".
Il nome del locale prende spunto da un’antica ricetta, una
deliziosa zuppa di cipolle, oggi regina del menù della
Trattoria: la storia narra sia una ricetta antica,
rinascimentale, della cucina dei Medici che Caterina de'
Medici, sposa del secondogenito del re di Francia, portò
con se Oltralpe (con artisti, artigiani e cuochi
fiorentini), dando inizio alla tradizione della variante
francese della zuppa di cipolle "Soupe à l'oignon", ma la
carabaccia è anche la piccola barca a forma di guscio che
nei tempi antichi trasportava da una sponda all'altra dell'
Arno, il fiume che attraversa Firenze, la sabbia e il sale.
Trattoria sin dal 1972 rappresenta tutt'oggi come
allora, un cordiale ritrovo per tutti i buongustai di
Firenze, aperta sia a pranzo sia a cena, rappresentando una
comoda sosta tra un museo e un monumento di giorno o una
bella serata in compagnia da trascorrere in pieno relax a
cena.
L'ambiente della Carabaccia è quello tipico e accogliente
delle caratteristiche trattorie fiorentine: tra vecchi
tavoli in massello, pavimenti in cotto fiorentino, antiche
stoviglie in rame, piatti e vasellame in ceramica appese
alle pareti, è il trionfo della vera cucina toscana, dagli
antipasti ai dolci fatti in casa, passando tra primi di
pasta fresca e zuppe, alla celebre griglia di carne
fiorentina.

Location: The
Hotel Boccaccio can be found in the heart of the historic
city centre, in an area between the River Arno and the
Church of Santa Maria Novella, a stone’s throw from the
railway station, from Piazza Duomo and from the Church of
San Lorenzo.
This enviable position makes it possible to enjoy, within
just a few minutes walk, the romantic atmosphere of the
Ponte Vecchio, the works of art contained in the Galleria
degli Uffizi and the treasures of the Galleria
dell’Accademia.
Alongside the palaces and monuments one can find artisan
workshops, small cafes and prestigious boutiques along the
elegant Florentine streets.
Their products, today just as in the past, have rendered
the name of Florence and Italy famous throughout the entire

The Hotel takes its name from the illustrious Tuscan poet
and man of letters, Giovanni Boccaccio, friend of Petrarca,

with the extension of the building, valorized by the
original Carrara marble, has made the presence of more

to reach our "Trattoria La Carabaccia".
The name of the premise was conjured up from an ancient
recipe, a delicious soup nowadays the mainstay of the
Trattoria: The story has it that this very old Renaissance
recipe originated in the kitchen of dei Medici which
Caterina de' Medici, wife of the second son of the King of
France, took along with her over the Alps (along with
artists, artisans and Florentine cooks) and which gave
birth to the French variation of onion soup "Soupe à
l'oignon", although the carabaccia is also a small boat in
the shape of a shell that in ancient times was used to
transport sand and salt to and fro the shores of the Arno
River that goes through the city.
The Trattoria has been operating since 1972 and to
this day it has kept its reputation as an appealing meeting
place for all the food connoisseurs of Firenze; open both
for lunch and for dinner, it is the perfect stop between
museums and monuments by day, while at night it can be the
place to relax while dining in good company.
The inviting ambiance of Carabaccia is typical of
Florentine trattorie: Amidst solid hardwood tables,
Florentine terra cotta floors, antique copper pots, ceramic
plates and crockery hanging on the walls, it is a success
of Tuscan cuisine, from antipasto to homemade desserts,
including fresh pasta and hearty soups and famous grilled
Florentine meat.
