Ubicazione: Il Canalgrande Hotel si trova nel centro di Modena, a pochi minuti dal Duomo con la famosa Ghirlandina, dall'Accademia Militare e dai più eleganti negozi della città.

Storia: Situato in un edificio del XVI secolo, nato come convento della Trinità, fu acquistato da privati e ristrutturato nel 1788, quindi ceduto nel 1858 alla nobile casata dei Marchesi Schedoni. Noto come il Palazzo della Principessa, per aver ospitato Caterina Manoukby, l'Hotel rappresenta uno dei migliori esempi di architettura neoclassica sia per quanto riguarda gli esterni, sia per la serie di sale al piano rialzato, ricco di affreschi, stucchi e dorature dell'epoca e di dipinti di particolare valore artistico.
Rritratti a figura intera, sei grandi tele rettangolari del XVII e XVIII secolo, riproducono membri della dinastia estense e più precisamente Alfonso IV Duca di Modena, Anna d'Austria Regina di Francia, Lodovico XIV re di Francia, M.T. d'Asburgo Spagna, Regina di Francia, Filippo I° d'Orleans Duca di Toscana, Enrica Anna d'Inghilterra.

Il Ristorante: Il seminterrato del Canalgrande risale al XVI e XVII secolo, un tempo darsena ducale, è ora un suggestivo ristorante, "LA SECCHIA RAPITA" dove sotto antiche volte a crociera in cotto, o nello splendido salone, si può gustare la migliore cucina emiliana.

Camere: Le camere dell'Hotel dispongono dei più moderni comfort per offrire alla Gentile Clientela un ambiente raffinato e rilassante.

Location: The Canalgrande Hotel in Modena is situated in the town centre, just a short distance from the Cathedral with its famous Ghirlandina bell-tower, from the Military Academy and from the smartest shops in town.

History: The hotel building dates from the sixteenth century and was originally the convent of the Holy Trinity. It passed into private ownership in 1788 and underwent alterations; then in 1858 it was sold to the family of the Marquis Schedoni.
It became known as the Princess's Palace after Caterina Manoukby stayed there. It is a most outstanding piece of neoclassical architecture, both for its external features and for the rooms on the Arts floor, richly decorated with frescos, stucco work, gilding, and paintings of especial artistics merit.
There are six full-length portraits, dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries showing members of the House of Este: Alfonso IV, Duke of Medena; Anne of Austria, Queen of France Lodovico XIV King of France; Maria Teresa Hapsburg; Philippe O'Orleans Duke of Tuseany; and Enrica Anna of England.

Restaurant: The basement of the Canalgrande Hotel dates from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and was once the Duke's dockyard and landing stage. It is now home to a most attractive restaurant, "LA SECCHIA RAPITA" where you can enjoy the best local cuisine in the splendid dining room or below ceiling of ancient terracotta cross-vaulting.
