Questo secolare edificio, recuperato dalla rovina e restaurato grazie all'impegno di una laboriosa famiglia di gestori pugliesi, vede oggi rinnovarsi la sua fama di luogo dove sia possibile trovare un rifugio ospitale, pur se temporaneo, lontano dal frastuono e dalla incombenza della vita quotidiana.


Storia: Costruita nell' VIII° secolo d.C. da tre fratelli Longobardi, un discendente dei quali ne fece, poi, dono alla Chiesa, l'antica Magione nel corso dei secoli ha accolto la serena meditazione dei frati benedettini, ha ospitato le nobili armi dei cavalieri del Tau, difensori della fede e dei pellegrini ed ha assolto le funzioni di albergo, di ospedale e di ricca fattoria padronale, situata nel punto centrale della Toscana, fra Pistoia e Montecatini Terme.


Tuttavia, qualunque sia stata la sua destinazione, l'antica Magione di Serravalle e sempre stata e sempre sarà un edificio di campagna, sinonimo di quiete e di garbata accoglienza.


Se è vero che la vita ha un suo sapore che non sempre riusciamo ad assaporare, ebbene, crediamo che I'antica Magione, ancora oggi, possa farci recuperare parte di questo sapore.


La Cucina: L'aspetto rasserenante delle colline circostanti, ingentilite dall'olivo, l'aria pulita della valle della Nievole, inducono a fermarsi, soprattutto d'estate, alla frescura dell'antica Magione per trovare il ristoro di una cucina semplice e genuine, come appunto si addice ai luoghi antichi.

Lontano dal rumore dei "Fast Food" o dal chiacchericcio dei ristoranti di città, senza le pretese di un'etichetta appiccicosa e di maniera, una famiglia di gestori pugliesi - cosi amano definirsi gli attuali proprietari, vi offre piatti gustosi e sani, conditi dalla tradizione toscana dall'olio d'oliva ed innaffiati dai corposi vini, rossi e bianchi, toscani.


Anche solo per curiosità pensiamo che valga la pena lasciare la strada maestra per raggiungere le bianche mura dell'Antica Magione.

This centuries old building, restored thanks to the efforts of an industrious family from the Puglia region, is now particularly renown because it offers you the possibility of finding a hospitable, though temporary shelter, away from the noise and troubles or everday life.


The History: The old mansion was built in the 8th Century A.D. by three Longobard brothers; one of their descendants then gave it as a present to the Church.In the course of the centuries the mansion has welcomed the serene meditations of the Benedectines and the noble arms of the Knights of Tau, defenders of the faith and of pilgrims. It then became a hotel, a hospital and a prosperous family farm, in the heart of Tuscany, between Pistoia and Montecatini Terme.


In any case, whichever was its use, the ancient "Magione" at Serravalle has always been, and will always remain, a country building, synonymous of tranquillity and pleasant hospitality.


If it is true that we are not always capable of enjoying the flavour of life, well, we think that even now the ancient "Magione" enables us to appreciate part of this flavour.


Cuisine: The cheerful appearance of the surrounding hills, studdet with gentle olive-trees, and the clean air of the Nievole valley induce you, especially in summer, to stop in the fresh atmosphere of the old mansion, where you may enjoy a simple, genuine cuisine, typical of all ancient places.

Away from "Fast Food" or town restaurants full of babbling of voices, without the pretensions of a formal etiquette, a family of "supervisors" (this is how the present owners like to define themselves) from the Puglia region offers you a tasty, healthy menu, served whith traditional Tuscan olive oil and full-bodied wines, red and white.


Even if only for curiosity, we think it is worth your while to leave the main road and reach the white walls of the"Antica Magione".
