dal casello autostradale di Taormina,
verso Nord, sulla antica Consolare Valeria, di fronte
all'azzurro intenso dello Jonio e protetto dal vigile
Promontorium, come lo chiamano i Romani.
La storia di questa cittadina è legata al Capo con il
sovrastante castello
che può vantare origini antichissime risalenti a epoca
greca tantochè i primi
abitatori elleni lo chiamarono ARGHENNON AKRON, capo
d'argento.
Sant'Alessio Siculo è comune di recente autonomia
ottenuta nel 1948 staccandosi territorialmente da Forza
d'Agrò. Ma il villaggio sviluppatosi tra il Capo dello
stesso nome e la fiumara d'Agrò vanta radici greco-romane
nonchè Arabo-Normanne e Bizantine. Dal suo promontorio, nei
secoli si sono affacciati sul mare cristallino personaggi
come il console romano Valerio, il re Ruggero il Normanno,
l'imperatore Carlo V e Giuseppe Garibaldi.
Negli ultimi vent'anni la cittadina è andata sviluppando la
sua vocazione turistica nel contesto delle bellezze
ambientali e culturali di tutta la valle d'Agrò. La valle,
oltre a Sant'Alessio, conta altri sette comuni
nell'hinterland tra il Mare Jonio ed i Monti Peloritani che
sono: Antillo, Casalvecchio Siculo, Forza d'Agrò, Limina,
Roccafiorita, Santa Teresa di Riva e Savoca. Questo
sviluppo è stato facilitato anche dalla positiva vicinanza
con Taormina principale centro turistico siciliano.

Siculo: Sant'Alessio Siculo is situated 9 km.
north of the Taormina higway exit
on the ancient Roman Consolare Valeria road,
overlooking the deep blue Ionian sea and protected
by the Promontorium, as the Romans called it.
The history of this town is linked to the Cape with the
Castle high above it,
built by the British in the early 1800s. The origins of the
town,
however, are ancient, dating back at least to the Greek
period,
when its first inhabitants called it ARGHENNON AKRON,
Silver Cape.
Sant'Alessio Siculo became a municipality in 1948 with
the separation from the mother town of Forza d'Agrò. The
village - built between the "Silver Cape" and the Agrò
River - has both Greek-Roman and Arabic-Norman and
Byzantine origins. Throughout the years, the Roman Consul
Valerio, the Norman King Ruggero, the Emperor Carlo V and
Giuseppe Garibaldi all admired the Cape of Sant'Alessio.
During the last 20 years, the town on the base of the
beautiful enviromental resources of the "Valle d'Agrò",
both natural and cultural, has developed its touristic
activities. Quite interesting and worth visiting, also the
other seven towns of the Valley, located between the Mounts
Peloritani and Jonic Sea : Antillo, Casalvecchio, Forza
d'Agrò, Limina, Roccafiorita, Santa Teresa di Riva, Savoca.
Of course, nearby Taormina, the most important resort place
in Sicily, has helped in orienting the touristic vocation
of this area.
