HOTEL MONTECONERO

Ricavato da un’antica abbazia camaldolese, l’Hotel Monteconero è ubicato sulla sommità del promontorio del Conero a 550 m. di altezza.


Al centro dell’omonimo parco Regionale, gode di un’incantevole posizione con vista sul mare Adriatico e sulle dolci colline marchigiane.


L'Abbazia: Sin da tempi antecedenti il Mille, la bellezza e la tranquillità dei luoghi hanno attirato sul promontorio del Conero uomini inclini alla meditazione e al raccoglimento. Le prime notizie storiche sulla Badia di S. Pietro risalgono al 1038 quando la chiesetta che molto probabilmente coincide con l’attuale, venne donata dai Conti Cortesi di Sirolo ad un abate, per potervi costruire un monastero.


L’edificazione del primo chiostro davanti alla chiesa risale al 1203. Vari furono gli abati e gli ordini religiosi che si alternarono nell’eremo di San Pietro e sempre maggiori divennero l’importanza e le dimensioni del monastero che già alla fine del ‘400 ospitava numerosi monaci. In seguito a dispute e contese tra gli stessi religiosi la pace e la serenità del luogo vennero messe a dura prova e nel 1558 un incendio, di probabile origine dolosa, distrusse gran parte della Chiesa e del convento. I lavori di restauro vennero intrapresi dai monaci benettini di Camaldoli, i quali a partire dal 1561 si stabilirono definitivamente nell’abbazia.


Alla fine del ‘600 il complesso aveva già una struttura ben definita; contornato da una cinta muraria appariva diviso in due zone: una meridionale con le celle eremitiche e la foresteria e l’altra a settentrione, comprendente la Chiesa romanica di San Pietro e gli altri edifici del convento. I Camaldolesi rimasero in San Pietro fino 1864, quando in seguito all’espropriazione dei beni ecclesiastici da parte dello Stato, essi dovettero abbandonare l’eremo. Rimasto di proprietà del Comune di Sirolo questo venne quasi interamente acquistato dalla famiglia Marchetti prima, e dai Soderini Caraffa d’Andria poi. Una parte dei locali vennero affittati nel 1932 alla famiglia Melappioni che ivi iniziò la propria attività nel settore della ristorazione. A partire dal 1958 la famiglia acquistò dai Caraffa d’Andria e dal Comune di Sirolo tutti i manufatti del convento per ristrutturarli e trasformarli in elegante Hotel.

Da tre generazioni la famiglia Melappioni gestisce l’Hotel Monteconero che dotato di ogni confort conserva ancora il fascino e la suggestione dell’antica abbazia.


Ideale per soggiorni all’insegna del relax, l’hotel offre la possibilità di effettuare passeggiate naturalistiche nei sentieri del Parco e di praticare il golf nel vicino Conero Golf Club.

Escursioni: In pochi minuti si raggiungono le stupende spiagge della Riviera del Conero, quali quelle di Sirolo, Numana e Portonovo. Percorrendo le “vie del Rosso Conero” si possono inoltre degustare i prodotti tipici dell’ enogastronomia locale. I paesi limitrofi sono meta di interessanti escursioni storico culturali.

Camere & Suites: L’Hotel dispone di 9 suites nell’antica foresteria del convento e di 50 camere arredate con gusto e sobrietà nel rispetto dello stile romanico; tutte dotate di servizi privati, linea telefonica diretta.

Servizi: Oltre agli ampi saloni per ricevimenti e banchetti, e a due sale per meetings, l’Hotel offre un esteso parco con belvedere sulla Baia delle Due Sorelle, una suggestiva terrazza panoramica nell’Hadonais Bar ed una preziosa piazzetta di fronte alla Chiesa.

A disposizione degli ospiti vi sono anche la piscina immersa nel verde, campo da tennis, parco giochi per bambini e parcheggio privato.


Il Ristorante: Al personaggio di Teofilo Folengo, l’autore delle Macheronee, conosciuto appunto con lo pseudonimo di Merlin Cocai, che soggiornò nell’eremo di San Pietro, il ristorante dell’Hotel Monteconero dedica il proprio nome. Seguendo l’esempio di Merlin Cocai, attento osservatore e conoscitore delle diverse tradizioni enogastronomiche legate al territorio, il ristorante si propone di valorizzare cibi e vini tipici della regione.


In un ambiente luminoso e raffinato dal quale si gode di ottima vista verso la costa e le colline circostanti è dunque possibile assaporare piatti genuini e gustosi valorizzati dagli abbinamenti con i migliori vini marchigiani e nazionali.

MONTECONERO HOTEL

Originally a Camaldolite Abbey, Hotel Monteconero stands at the top of the Conero promontory at an altidude of 550m. In the middle of Conero regional park, the hotel enjoys an enchanting position with a view of the Adriatic sea and the gentle hills of the Marches.


The Abbey: Since the 10th century religious men, devoted to meditation, have been attracted by the peace and beauty of Monteconero. First records of St. Peter’s Abbey date back to 1038 when the church was donated by the Conti Cortesi of Sirolo to a benedictine monk to found a monastry.

In 1203 the first cloister was added to the church. Many monchs and clergymen settled in turn in St. Peter’s monastry giving importance and interest to the builinding through the years. Unfortunatly the peace and quite of the area was often broken by fighting between different religious communities.


In 1558 a fire, deliberately started, destroyed a large part of the church and the monastry. The Camaldolites began the work of restoration and it was in 1561 that they first settled into the refurbished abbey.

At the end of the 17th century the complex had already a well defined structure. Surrounded by a wall, it is divided into two distinct areas; the southern part with the hermitical cells and the guest rooms; and the northern part including the Romanesque church of St. Peter and the others monastic buildings. In 1864 the Camaldolites abandoned the hermitage. The Commune of Sirolo took over, handing over the monastry first to the Marchetti family and then to the Soderini Caraffa d’Andria family. In 1932 the part of the complex still belonging to the Commune was rented to the Melappioni family who opened their restaurant business. In 1958 the Melappioni family bought the entire complex from the Commune and the Caraffa d’Andria family and transformed it into an elegant hotel.


For over three generations the family has run the hotel, which furnished with every confort still preserves the fascination of the ancient abbey.


Ideal for a relaxing holiday, the hotel also offers the opportunity to make excursions along the Park’s nature trails or to play golf in the nearby Conero Golf Club.

Excursions: In a few minutes it is possible to reach the marvellous beaches of the Riviera del Conero such as those of Sirolo, Numana and Portonovo. Moreover, following the ‘Rosso Conero routes’. tourists can sample local delicacies. The nearby towns and villages are of historical and artistic interest.

Rooms & Suites: The hotel has 50 ensuite bedrooms in the monastery and 9 suites in the guest wing which was formally a villa. The rooms are tastefully furnished reflecting the sobriety of the Romanesque style; they are all equipped with direct phone lines, satellite TV, air conditioning, minibar and safe.

Facilities: In addition to two banqueting halls and two meeting rooms, the hotel offers an exquisite courtyard in front of the church of St Peter, as well as a large and peaceful garden behind the hotel with a Belvedere looking out over Le Due Sorelle Bay. The terrace of the Hadonais bar has a magnificent panoramic view.

Guests may also make use of the secluded swimming pool surrounded by trees, the tennis court, children’s play area and private car parking.


Restaurant: Hotel Monteconero has dedicated the name of its restaurant to the author of the Macheronee, Teofilo Folengo, better known as Merlin Cocai, who visited St Peter’s Abbey. Following his expertise in the gastronomic traditions of the different regions of Italy, the restaurant offers local specialities and wines.


In the elegant dining room with its marvellous view of the coast and hills, it is possible to appreciate delicious indigenous dishes, accompanied by the best wines.
