La costruzione secentesca, che fu antica sede monastica e in seguito podere dell’inquisizione, ancora oggi gradevolmente austera, conserva negli ampi spazi il silenzio delle sue antiche origini.

La Locanda si affaccia su un arioso giardino all’italiana, una macchia di colori mediterranea, dove l’aria tiepida si inebria del profumo di gigli, rose canine e gerani; appoggiata alla facciata principale una straordinaria pianta centenaria ombreggia i tavoli tra grandi vasi di limoni e aranci.

Camere: Le 33 camere e suite, arredate con gusto e dotate di ogni comfort, si affacciano sulla piscina panoramica, aperta nel periodo estivo.

The Locanda del Sant’Uffizio is a charming hotel deep in the heart of the Monferrato district, a hilly region long famous for its wine and food, with gastronomic traditions that reflect the true spirit of Piedmont.

The seventeenth century structure, an ancient monastic centre, and later stronghold of the Inquisition, is still quite austere, retaining in its wide spaces the silence of its ancient origins.

The Locanda looks out onto an airy Italianate garden, a splash of Mediterranean colour where the warm air is thick with the scent of lilies, dog roses and geraniums; and, climbing up the main façade, a magnificent ancient plant casts shade over the tables, arranged among the lemon and orange trees in their great pots.

Rooms: The 33 rooms and suites, tastefully furnished and equipped with every comfort, look out onto the panoramic swimming pool, open in the summer season.

Restaurant and Bar: The Locanda del Sant’Uffizio restaurant, for many years the destination of a refined, elite tourist clientele, is known to international gourmets for its extraordinarily delicious food, with a menu based on the knowledgeable reinterpretation of traditional Piedmontese cooking: located in the heart of the truffle region, the Locanda can also offer a richly varied choice of the highest quality wines.
