HOTEL LOGGIATO DEI SERVITI

Nota Storica: L' edificio che ospita oggi l' Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti fu fatto edificare tra il 1517 e il 1527 dall' ordine religioso dei " Servi di Maria " detti successivamente anche "Serviti", su progetto dell' arch. Antonio da Sangallo il Vecchio.
La facciata doveva riprendere nelle linee, quello più antico di un secolo che si trova di fronte, progettato da Filippo Brunelleschi.
L' interno era stato realizzato per ospitare prelati di passaggio da Firenze, e come luogo di riunioni.
Il palazzo rimase dell' ordine religioso per circa tre secoli, fino a quando nella seconda metà dell' ottocento a seguito dello scioglimento dei beni ecclesiastici fu venduto ai privati.
Acquistato dalla famiglia Budini Gattai, fu abitato inizialmente da vari inquilini.

Fu nel 1924, che ad opera di uno di essi iniziò l' attività di Locanda.
Prima alcune stanze poi successivamente ingrandito, rimase sotto il nome di Pensione Morandi fino al 1984.

Ripreso dalla famiglia proprietaria fu iniziato il lavoro di restauro durato più di due anni. L' albergo fu riaperto nel 1986 dopo un restauro conservatorio dove sono state riportate alla luce le strutture cinquecentesche e settecentesche.

L'Hotel Oggi: Oggi l' albergo ha 29 camere ( tra doppie, singole e suites ) arredato con mobili antichi e dotato di tutti i confort moderni: T.V sattellitare. A.C., frigo bar, cassaforte, filodiffusione radio.

Historical Note: The building which houses today the Hotel Loggiato dei Serviti was built between 1517 and 1527 by the religious order of the Servi di Maria, later called Serviti, based on a project by the Arch. Antonio da Sangallo il Vecchio.
The façade was to resemble the lines of the building situated on the opposite side, built a century earlier by Filippo Brunelleschi.
The primises of the “Serviti” were to be used to give hospitality to prelates passing through the city of Florence. The building remained property of the religious order for about 300 years, until around the second half of the 1800’s, when all the land belonging to the curch was sold to private individuals.
Bought by the Budini Gattai family, it first housed various tenants.

It was in 1924 that the setting was converted into an Inn, at first with only a few rooms, it was secondly enlargeed and it remained as Pensione Morandi until 1984.

The proprietors then took it back under their administration and began the restoration which lasted over two years. The hotel reopened in 1986 after a very accurate restoration where the original structures of the 15th and the 17th century were brought back to light.

The Hotel Today: Today the hotel has 29 rooms. It furnished with antiques with modern comforts as to satellite TV, piped in music, A.C., mini bar, hair dryers and buit in safe.
