PALAZZO BELMONTE
Location: A one and a half hour drive from Naples brings you to a glorious stretch of unspoilt Cilento coastline, where you will discover sandy beaches, crystal clear sea and the characteristic little fishing village of Santa Maria di Castellabate.
Palazzo Belmonte sits at the heart of the National Cilento Park, south of the Amalfi coast, adjoining Santa Maria di Castellabate but at the same time remaining delightfully isolated within five acres of beautiful gardens.
Suites: The twenty spacious suites/ apartments are located in three wings of the Palazzo and the charming Edoardo's House adjoining the main Palazzo. Each apartment is uniche and named after a scented flower or herb found in the surrounding gardens.
Many have vaulted ceilings, while some have private terraces. The suites/apartments are comfortable, each with a sitting room and with its own distinctive design and furnishings. Some have full or partial views of the sea, while others overlook the 5 acre garden or flower filled courtyard.
Swimming pool: The magnificent 24 metre freshwater swimming pool, situated within the gardens, is surrounded by Bougainvillaea, fragrant Honeysuckle and Jasmine. Deckchairs, comfortable sunbeds and large umbrellas are provided with changing rooms and showers nearby.
Bar: Enjoy the unique romantic view from the Belvedere Bar, watching the fishing boats as the sun sets, or after dinner, listening to the waves lapping on the shore below, with a glimpse of the twinkling lights of Positano and Amalfi.
Beach: The private beach of soft golden sand can be reached through a little door at the end of the garden where guests are attended by Palazzo staff.
Gardens: The splendid five acres of park and gardens offer a setting which is both private and tranquil where you can find many secluded spots for a quiet read or perhaps some sketching or painting among Orange and Lemon trees, Flowering Hibiscus, Oleander, Jasmine, Roses, Plumbago and Bougainvillaea. In the evening guests can enjoy the heady scent of flowers in the night air.
Restaurant: The restaurant situated at the end of the garden overlooks the turquoise Mediterranean sea. It offers light lunches and dinners of delicious food with aromas and flavours of southern Italy all prepared by the talented in-house chef. A special list of ltalian wines is offered. Sitting under the stars and listening to the waves gently lapping against the shore below or perhaps catching a glimpse of Capri and the adjacent Costiera Amalfitana's twinkling lights on a clear night - can be truly romantic.
Villa: Palazzo Belmonte and Villa Belmonte, with their unique architectural designs, offers something for all: From nature lovers, to those interested in history, or simply, for those who wish to take a break from the stress of modern day living. An island within an island. Villa Belmonte discreetly located in a quite corner of the gardens, has an understated atmosphere of charm and tranquillity. Many rooms/suites with patio or terrace overlook the sea, some the gardens. Each room/suite features a frigo bar, central heating and air conditioning.
Villa Belmonte consists of 2 very private "villas", Villa Francesca and Villa Maria-Sophia, named after the Prince's daughters, each room with pretty female names of the Prince's ancestors, quaintly decorated and furnished in a private house style -that enhance the beautiful Palazzo it is a part of.
Both are separated by a charming garden walkway leading to steps down through a delightful enclosed area of orange trees - and then to the main Palazzo gardens, pool and beach. While both are virtually identical in design, each has its own distinctive and unique ambience, and slightly different location and view.
Each room has been cleverly designed to be totally separate for two guests, or interconnected to form ideal accommodations for three or four persons. The entire Villa is also available upon request.
The 3 "luxury Penthouse" rooms on the top floor are quite stunning, ideal for honeymooners. The furnishing, the view and the size of each room/suite are all different. Antique prints and lovely Italian fabrics give each of the rooms the inviting warmth of an elegant residence. Most beds are Queen size, some King size, and make up as twins if required. Single beds are a generous in size.
Villa Belmonte a wonderful addition to the Palazzo, providing an intimate retreat for couples, honeymooners, people on their own or ideal family accommodation in high season.
Excursions: Many interesting activities can be arranged through the Palazzo such as: hire of mountain bikes to explore the pine-wooded coastline, scuba diving to investigate submerged ruins and marine life, windsurfing, water-skiing, horse riding and tennis.
Boat trips and picnic lunches can be arranged to Punta Licosa, an extraordinary 6 km stretch of private, unspoilt coastline, ideal for snorkelling, delightful for a pleasant stroll amongst the eucalyptus and pines and a superb stretch for the enthusiastic jogger.
Not only has the surrounding Cilento National Park been inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site but the coastline and waters of Castellabate and Licosa were awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness and environmental awareness in 1999.
